Free Dominguez has been around since 1998 and has had great success over the span of her career. Most of you may know her as the lead singer for the KidneyTheives, but she has ventured out onto her own solo career that I feel is very under appreciated by die hard KT fans. She's currently working on her latest solo album "Volcano + The Sea" which is being backed solely by her fans. She prides herself on being 100% an independent artist, and petitioned for backers with Kickstarter. As of 1/1/13 all necessary funds were raised and the album is now in production!! Guys, I'm so excited to check this out!
For those of you who have never had the privilege of hearing either KT or Free's solo albums, you're really missing out on something great! This girl has got some pipes, and believe me, she knows how to use them!! My favorite solo track of her's thus far is "Darkest Rivers" off of the Unearth album. Starting out acapella and showing of those gorgeous pipes, the song slowly breaks into an amazing almost industrial sound. Lyrically, the song is beautifully written. For those of you who take the time to listen, I guarantee you will be completely blown away by the talent this woman has. Although completely solo from KT now, I highly recommend that you also check out the song "Dark Horse" by KidneyTheives. A little more rock, but another example of pure talent!!
Finding her music is simple! Check out iTunes, Spotify, YouTube.....there are songs to be found everywhere! Please, for the love of God, check this woman out and give her some mad love and respect! Everything she does is 100% for the fans, and without them her new album would have taken way longer to go into production! This is a true indie artist with a serious gift!
